Wheels/rims/tires- Considering upgrade
I currently have 17" wheels with stock rims.
What is that wheel/tire size combo I see on other x's that looks so muscular and sporty? 20" with fat tires? I don't want the rims to be obnoxious, since I'm in a professional industry but I want something that elevates the x to that same sporty muscular look. Pics or links would be great if you have them. |
Professional industry?
Dont let your job dictate what you like. But to put it simple and clean ans also look "professional" x5 oem wheels comes in 20's with 315 width. I like them but dont care for the rough ride. I have the oem 18's and they are pretty stiff. max id go is 19's. |
The OEM 20 inch wheels are staggered. The fronts are 275 and the rears are 315. It is a major appearance upgrade from the 17's and to tell you the truth in my opinion it rides better than the 17's. Just get a quality tire set and you will be good. I just did this upgrade thanks to TMV and I couldn't be happier. The truck looks and drives amazing.

Or, 19s...

OP, I love my set of HRE. They are light, quality wheels with lip, that add more muscular to the X. Here on my old 3.0. They are on my 4.8iS now. http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...ps40c763a8.jpg http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...psd892704f.jpg http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...psfae72f49.jpg |
^No disrespect intended man, but I'd run those factory 4.8 wheels all day. I like my factory sport 19s, but those 'is' wheels are nice.

There is a chart on your driver's door jamb and in your owners manual that lists the BMW recommended wheel & tire sizes for your vehicle. And you can go to the online part databases like realoem.com or bmwfans.info and pull up the wheel diagrams to see all the wheels BMW has for the e53 X5. Or you can check out the (17) E53 X5 BMW wheels by at the link to the site below...if you click on the wheel's image...you will see its specs (size & offset)...which you can combine with the info on your driver's door jamb/owners manual to see what size tires go with the wheels: http://www.bimmerboard.com/members/q...20X5%2030i.jpg |

Choosing between an OE wheel or a polished lip wheel was a "no brainer" for me. These are ultra-light, central mass designed wheels,19s, 255-285.
