HELP! Just rolled down passenger window and wont go back up !!

This is a bummer! I can tell my driver and passenger window switches are working.. It will move up and down a few millimeters... Slip under the seal and go up far enough to peak out about 1-2 millimeters.. Tried to grab it with pliers and roll it up with button but its not budging.. Just read the how to on removing door panel and that seems like a total pain in the butt! Before this there was no sign anything was wrong or about to happen.. Any advice:dunno:

More than likely your clips for the glass on the regulator broke. They are cheap, about 10 bucks on amazon. Quick fix: stick a small flat head at the edge of the window, start applying pressure to the glass pushing it to roll up. For example, if it was your passenger side front door, you will stick the flat head at the edge closest to the door jamb. Start rolling up (do it with car on for more power) you will be basically pushing the glass towards the front of the vehicle to clear the rubber seal. Once you get it up about 3 inches guide it with your hand. Dont roll it down all the way until you fix it.

Thanks for the fast reply.. I went out there and messed with it a bit, but didnt want to get too carried away untill i checked back..
So flathead on the inside of the glass as far back as i can get it and push up and out towards the outside of door? I tried to get a real skinny one inside on the edge and push forward but not much play back there...

Give me a second. I have this exact issue on my X5. I'll upload a quick video of what I am talking about.

BMW Window Regulator FRONT Clip X5 3.0i 4.4i 4.6 00-06 : Amazon.com : Automotive

They are cheap, and if you google how to replace them, it doesn't seem so hard. I haven't done it because I have been busy with other issues on my car to really worry about this one. But I have the clips and if you have amazon prime, they are fast shipped.

same clips from my dealer are under a dollar a piece... but, in CA, i have heard, they can be $5 a piece from a dealer...

Found a good place for these clips ($1.65). Stumbled across this page looking for a cabin filter.. They've got good prices on pretty much anything we'll ever need. http://www.eeuroparts.com/Parts/3042...t-51338254781/

I got around to fixing my window last week, and although the clips in question were damaged, they weren't, in the end, the key to the issue.

The picture is that of the regulator guide rail clip. The way the regulator works is fairly simple. The regulator is attached to a couple of metal rails which attach to the door frame. The guide rails have a stranded wire cord which connects to the guard rail clip pictured and attaches to the glass with the previously mentioned plastic clips. The guard rail clips attach to the chord through means of a metal cylinder inline with the chord. When the plastic on the clip wears out, the cylinder and cord detach from clip and this basically makes the window regulator strain or fail, specifically if both clips are damaged and the chords have been released. As you can see in this clip, the plastic is badly damaged which resulted in the cylinder being released. Luckily, only 1 of the two clips was damaged. Unluckily, this piece isn't sold separately at the dealership. You can however find a replacement on ebay where I found mine.

Or search ebay for BMW X5 Window Regulator repair clip bracket. They sell for 13 bucks a pair. 1 pair should be for 1 door but they can do two if you only need 1 clip in each door (depending on which position as well). Now you probably will need to detach the regulator from the door to get the chord to slide in (luckily I only removed one of the guiderails and patiently worked it in). This is a guaranteed fix to the problem...well, unless the regulator motor is shot, in which case you need a new regulator. Good luck!
