steering wheel air bag spring plate
1 Attachment(s)
hello, anybody know if I remove the 3 large torx screws whether or not this item will come off easily?or will i have a nightmare time putting back on? I cannot for the life of me pull through cable with the spade connector as shown in red that runs through the back of this ....need to take off the airbag connectors/harnes to see if i can find an identical one locally, ebay sellers are saying that e46 connectors for e46 bmws with round aribag will work and conect fine, i am not sure....thanks

anyone?:dunno:...does this backing plate that holds in the airbag springs simply lift off and goes back on after removing and re inserting those 3 torx bolts?
|
If you want to remove the steering wheel, change the "clock spring" (steering wheel contact cartridge) you need to under the center bolt (18 mm from memory).
For the backing plate (for your photo), yes the 3 x Torx fasteners. |
I have meant to post asking a question about this area and kept forgetting.
After removing my wheel, my airbag is sitting at an angle to the left. I have pushed, removed & reinstalled & pushed more to no avail. Sorry for the hijack but I figured why create a new thread. Thanks |
E30 cabrio, do you mean
your wheel is to the left (not put back in the same position on teh splined shaft) OR the air bag / pad isn't level (probably have the air bag or mutli-function switch wires pinched under the bag and/or you need to tighten the screws on both sides bit by bit)? |
The bag/horn assembly is jutting out further on the right side towards the left.
It does not seem like it is hitting anything underneath it & I can push it flush, it just won't stay where it belongs. It was flush before I released it. Thanks |
