part identification help.
 

i found this hard plastic tube, not hooked up to anything, when i was changing my ccv today. one end appears to be connected to the block....like it's a drain or something. can you help tell me where it goes? i don't want to button everything up and then have to go back in.

it is a vent - it goes nowhere, it just hangs there freely and in the last 5-6 years i am on this board, this part has perplexed a lot of people... i think BMW should put a label onto it, saying that it goes nowhere!!! lol...

lets see what other folks will say...

i think i just followed it down to the front differential. interesting.

now isn't there another one like this attached to the dipstick?
