I lo-o-ve estoril on a 4.8is, but I think you need to do some work on the price of a 100k mile E53. Best of luck with the sale.

Understandable. And that is why I stated after the price that it is Or Best Offer. I'm not expecting to get $19K for it. That's just a starting point. If someone is seriously interested I am sure they will make an offer.

OptimusPriM5 09-24-2013 01:05 PM

I believe thats LeMans Blue unless its an Individual. Estoril was only on 02 and 03 4.6's

EDIT: I stand corrected I was advised that was not available after 03 on x5. Cool

Yes, Estoril Blue was a common color on the 2002-2003 X5's. The 4.6is to be exact. In 2004 a very limited number of facelifted 4.8is were produced in Estoril Blue.

Then the color was discontinued and changed to LeMans blue. That is why an Estoril Blue 4.8is is so rare.

gruppeM3 09-24-2013 02:54 PM

If you know of anyone that might be interested please let them know. I am in the market for a new diesel and would prefer to sell the X5 sooner rather than later. Thanks guys.

Also if you guys have any tips on selling or know of other enthusiast forums where it would be appreciated, please let me know.

Considering the rarity of the Estoril 4.8is, I think your price is more than fair.

Is this labelled as an "individual" build? It should say Individual beneath the paint code in the engine bay.

Anyone who loves Estoril and wants a 4.8is has no other choice but to buy yours. This truck is so rare, the odds of finding another one are so low, one should be willing to PAY UP.

Good luck with your sale.

Thanks for the kind words, man. I'm pretty sure it's not an individual build. From what I know there were only less than 40 X5 4.8is made in 2004 that came in Estoril Blue. Once those were done Estoril Blue was not seen on an X5 until the release of the 2011 X5 M's. So I would say that's pretty darn rare:thumbup:

I think I am being flexible with the price, considering that I am willing to negotiate. Especially since I want to buy my new diesel already.

gruppeM3 09-24-2013 07:12 PM

No pressure guys but I am working on a trade at two dealerships. So if you were thinking about it please inquire soon. I have no reason to lie. Just would rather have it go to a fellow forum member. I'd say I'll have it another two to three days before I make a deal with a dealership.

If you are local come down and see it for yourself.

Ricky Bobby 09-24-2013 07:13 PM

Well if you want it to sell faster you should let us know what the dealership wants to give you in trade, and someone will definitely offer you that value plus a dollar :)

LOL

Lol. I'm not trying to start a bidding war here. Just trying to offer it to forum members first. Like I said before, if someone is really interested they will make an offer. Either way I'm getting my diesel:D

Your right its not individual the paint plate shows Estorilblau it would note it as individual paint and sills would also state the same.

Actually that color is Monte Carlo Blue makes yours even more special

How do you come up with that? This is the sticker for paint color on his car.
http://www.xoutpost.com/attachments/...4-8is-x5-5.jpg
Clearly says "estorilblau-metallic"

TiAgX5 09-25-2013 09:45 AM

The Monte Carlo Blue is a lighter blue with a slight metallic flake.

That comment refers to the highlighted text in my response regarding the X5m. I KNOW his says estorilblau I made reference to that in my first comment.

I love Monte Carlo Blue but my X5 is indeed Estoril.

You are correct, sir. Not an individual build, either.

I guess people dont follow the use of bolded text. I was stating that the x5m's are MONTE CARLO BLUE not Estoril. I obviously should have more direct in my statement. That was why I was saying its even more rare.

I understand what you mean. You are referring to the X5 M correct? Just wanted to clarify for everyone else.

Yes

So wish I could pic this up, but I can't get rid of my 02 estoril blue.

I will agree with the others that the post as written was very confusing- and even with the addition of bold text. :dunno:

The best tip on selling is to start bidding with what your research shows as reasonable in the current market. The market for your vehicle at the price you are starting negotiations has spoken- with silence. If you want the market to respond with something other than silence, adjust your ask to be in line with demand.

For reference, my 2004 4.8is was only about $10k more than your starting/asking/negotiations price. That was with 11k total miles and was 2.5 years ago.

Again, this is offered as nothing but advice to your request for suggestions on selling. Not trying to rain on any parades.

Well it's not all that bad. You already have something very similar to my X5:thumbup:

I see where you are coming from. I don't think I'm out of line with the asking price though. This was just spur of the moment. I will be trading it in tomorrow if nothing gets done by then. I won't be taking much of a loss compared to my asking price so it's all good.

I wanted it to go to a member that would appreciate it. As difficult as this may be to believe I actually found a dealership that appreciates the rarity of the car along with the tasteful mods. This is the first time I can say that in all of my car shopping years.

I guess that might have come off a bit confusing since I put 19k obo. I already know that people never offer full price. I figured someone would offer me around 17.5k. I would honestly be willing to take 17k. Nothing less. If I were offered even a dollar less I would rather trade it in. The dealer is offering close to that number.

gruppeM3 10-02-2013 01:35 PM

Quick update guys. So it turns out that there are literally no 328 diesels in the US with the options that my wife and I want. So that means no trade on the X5 either. I will have to order it and wait over two months for it to arrive.

With that said, I have updated the thread with a no BS price. I am pretty firm with what I am asking for, 17K. If you guys are interested please let me know. Thanks

Ricky Bobby 10-02-2013 01:44 PM

Doesn't surprise me. Dealers barely have "regular cars" (e.g. not diesel) with all options, color combo etc. I would like so I did find it surprising that the 328D was so easy for you.

Most people who want something even REMOTELY specific from a new car today have to order it, it's sad because the days of walking in your local dealership, showing off your pristine ride to get max trade value are over. The dealers don't keep enough inventory for the most part, and who can blame them. No one wants cars sitting on lots for months when you can get one factory fresh in 90 days.

Sorry to hear OP, and good luck with the Estoril sale, as well as delivery of your 328D.

Yeah. Most of the cars they had were bare bones. Or they had a very crappy combination of options. They kept trying to sell me on the new "sensa tech" which is their new version of leatherette. I was going to settle but then I thought to myself "why am I going to settle when I am about to shell out over 50K for a brand new car"!? Screw that! I guess I kinda understand. After all they are salesman. They want the sale now. They don't really care about what you want.

gruppeM3 10-02-2013 03:31 PM

By the way, tires were just replaced. So that's one less thing you will have to worry abouthttp://www.xoutpost.com/images/smilies/thumbup.gif

Bridgestone Run flats

Totally unrelated, but one of my best friends is a master tech at the local Lexus dealership, and he actually told me that its possible in a couple years that Lexus might not offer traditional "real leather" on a lot of its models, even the higher end ones.

The thought process behind this is 2 things. 1) The new "leatherettes", vinyl seats, faux leather, whatever you want to call them are starting to look and feel closer to real leather than ever before.

And 2) It's all about longevity of the interior. 100% real leather is a maintenance, as far as keeping grime off the seats, conditioning it to keep it supple, etc. Most people on lease or whatever barely vacuum their interiors, you expect the leather to be in tip top shape? Lexus in this case wants an interior that is durable as can be, so that it adds value to the second owner, CPO buyer, etc a couple years down the line.

I'll remark on this, my X5 seats are 10 years old and 69k miles, and they look just as good as my wife's Toyota Rav4 real leather seats, and she has 35k miles. Actually, the thigh bolsters on my car look better, you already can see plenty of wrinkles on hers from getting in and sliding your thighs across the bolsters.

And my buddy says that is the number one reason they are looking to fade out leather, because after a couple years the seats just don't age well, even with proper care ( you can't expect to tell someone to not slide their thighs across the bolster to avoid wear marks and wrinkling of the leather)

Good luck on your order though, hope you ordered M-sport! Still pissed that you still can't get a proper manual trans with the new diesels, I thought that might be a replacement for my X5 someday.

I agree with what you said but I still like the feel of leather. The sensatech that BMW offers now looks like leather. Although it doesn't feel like leather once you sit on it. I will say that it has come a long way though.

As for the diesel, I am going to order M sport. That's what I have on my current 2011 335d. I am going to order it in Mineral grey, saddle brown leather, M-Sport, Premium package, navigation, technology package, cold weather package, and I think that's about it.

I too wish they offered it with a manual transmission. More so on my 335d as that thing has loads of torque. Imagine 435 ft lbs of torque and a manual transmission:wow:

The new 328 diesels on the other hand aren't really too powerful. Would still be fun with a manual trans but not as much. Plus I'm getting this car for economical purposes. That 45 mpg sounds great:thumbup:

It makes sense bc the leatherette/sensatech etc is much more durable, but for someone like you who takes care of their cars, its an added bonus for real leather, whereas some don't care whether v-tex or leather as long as they can afford the lease payment on their 328!

Imagine 435 ft lbs of torque and a manual transmission:wow: You're not kidding my friend, when the 335d's got out all I could think about was roasting tires with a stick and that torque! Then I was disappointed. And now again on the 328

That 45 mpg sounds great:thumbup: Agreed, 45 mpg is going to be awesome! Although I beg to differ bc of the lesser power that it wouldn't be fun to drive with a stick. I drove a 2.0 TDI VW a couple years back with a stick that was a blast to drive (I think 140 hp and 236 lb ft?), and those were getting mid 40s on the highway too (still do as far as I know the engine is the same since 2009 or so)

See above and best of luck with your new ride!
