"Check Side Lights"

Hi All
Whenever I turn my E53 off i get the ding and the "check side lights" warning on the dash. I have checked them and the lights are both working properly (the ones on the front fenders for turn signals).
Every now and again it shows up when I start it and have to clear it out from the check screen

Anyone else thinks a bulb needs to be replaced anyway because it has a weak connection, or are there other side lights that I am not thinking of or
see??:dunno:

Is it more serious than this because they are flashing when the turn signals are put on and flashing when the alarm is set or shut off

Had this one also....

Turned out the one of my Angel Eyes was out. Now the question about how a "Side Light" fault warning becomes an Angel Eye outage is kinda weird.

Without information on your X as pre-facelift or facelift, it's hard to chime in.
As StephenVA posted, it could be the AE bulb if you have facelift X. I think the reason that AE shows up as side light is because of the LCM. Our X5 was based on the E39. In facelift E39, the AE bulb also power the tiny corner light (or side light), and monitored by the LCM. The X5 shares the same LCM. The corner light on the X5 is referred to as "parking light" in NCSExpert, but the message displayed from the LCM to the cluster is still "side light"
For pre-facelift, I would atleast remove the bulb for visual inspection.

Went out at lunch to take a look, driver side halo's are out sorry for wasting the time here on this
do folks know is this one bulb that does both (As in the two halo's on the drivers side) or does each halo have a bulb, I beleive i only saw one

No need to sorry. We all come for help and info.
Good thing you find out about the AE bulb. One bulb will power both rings in one headlight. I would use this opportunity to get a set of 10w LED AE bulbs to replace them. If you want to go with yellow OEM bulbs, I have a set from my iS when I replace with LED. I'll shipped to you for $20.

TMV, thank you very much, if you do not mind holding onto that thought for a week or so, I am heading on vacation, and was thinking i might make the move to the LED's as well

Replace it with the upgrade "whiter" color ones. The upgrade bulbs are a true plug and play. Make sure the vendor you choose has all the necessary wire jumper/mod connections included as the different connectors and require a mod wire connection. (Read the word splice)

I too have a left over AE bulb if you need one. Life span left = who knows.
