help identifying engine noise

Hey all, after spending two weeks replacing broken and old parts on my 2002 x5 ive come across a problem. There is a screeching sound coming from the middle of the engine (very vague but i really cant identify the source). Ive attached a video for better reference.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/q9k0vnbud9wfwuj/IMG_3027.MOV

list of parts i have replaced: power steering reservoir and connecting hoses, Alternator, ccv and all connecting hoses, vcg, upper and lower tensioner, new belts, DISA valve and water pump.

Could someone please help me identify the source of the sound? or direct me as to where i could start looking and is it safe for me to continue driving it?

Thank you in advance

Jimmy

I'll ask before someone else does; which engine do you have?

Sorry forgot to add that it is a 3.0i with 170k

In the video it doesn't sound vague, it sounds very loud. My first reaction to the video was find the cause before any further driving. However, audio can be very misleading based on what was used to make the recording combined with what is used to listen to it.

Does it get worse at higher rpms?

How is the engine running--missing or loss of power?

Can you check for fault codes?

As I read your first post, the noise was not there before you worked on belts and pulleys
and you have replaced everything associated with the belts. In spite of and because of that, a guess would be a bad pulley, pulley out of alignment or loose belt or a belt that needs to be dressed. Usually those causes get louder at higher rpms though belts sometime quiet down.

One way to pin down where the noise is coming from listen to various parts of the engine with an auto stethoscope, a piece of hose or a ratchet extension.
