I'll clean the contacts. Thanks.

Perhaps two different issues.

Rear tail lights on the E53 are a known issue. The contacts are only ONE part of the problem you can have. Another issue is that the heat from the bulbs can (over time) soften the plastic stand-ups that hold the metal contact plate for the bulbs. The stander softens and then (BINGO), no contact and you have an error code. THE solution is covered in BMW SIB 63 08 07 which someone posted some time ago. I applied the same repair with Milliput - no more issues in two years.

OTHER problem you might have (suspension sensor) is that the height sensors can fail over time. My X5 had Xenon lights and rear-only air suspension.

I had a dash light light up for for the suspension, plugged in INPA software on the car and it told me that it was the right, rear sensor. The car still rode fine, height was correct. I replaced the sensor (use a new BMW genuine part - not the $25 Chinese made alternative), erased the code and all is well. I bought two, figuring that if one side fails - the other may not live another eleven years :)

Thanks, the odd thing is I have no dash code regarding suspension like I did when the bag was dying.

I'll check the contacts/plastic/housings and run DIS when I get home tomorrow.

Thanks for the SIB number that will make it easy to find.

did you clear your errors after replacing the bag? the faults might be stored codes from before you replaced them?

I did and also twice yesterday after it appeared. That picture was taken after the second time I cleared it. It was still there.

Another thing just occurred to me. The light warnings came on 1-2 miles into the trips home immediately after using the brakes. They went away within 1/2 mile and did not recur.

You might need to replace the bulbs and see if it happens again.

I'll get the bulbs and I guess I'll turn notification off on one side to see which bulb is throwing the error.

I'm home & ready to scan. Which of the Romanian programs do I want to run & which test(s)?

Thanks

Here is what DIS shows on both suspension modules:
