Aircon query ?
 

Hi all,

I have found this to be a very informative resource to date for many different issues i have had with my X am now official. Although I have read many posts regarding aircon problems I am seeking some clarification on an the specific issue I have experienced.

The aircon on my 2003 E53 X5D would take longer and longer, over a period of time, to cool until it eventually just gave up on the cold air all together. I took it to an Aircon mechanic who tells me that I need to replace the compressor. He also mentioned that the system is holding correct pressure and has no leaks. Since researching the problem on this forum I have checked that the clutch engages and the compressor spins freely when switching the Aircon off and on and the Aux fan is working correctly also. My question is.... Is there anything else that I should be checking before replacing the compressor as this is likely an expensive fix ?
