No Power to Heated Mirror

2003 E53 with a specific heated mirror issue... I'm getting no power to the heater element for the drivers side mirror which was verified using a volt meter on wires which connect to the mirror. Troubleshooting so far has consisted of: cleaning contacts of wires to ensure good test, checked all circuit breakers related to mirrors in glove box fuse box, all other functions of mirror's motor (and window) are functioning, and during testing the passenger side mirror heat was functioning. Aside from a broken wire some where I'm at a loss, I have no idea where else to be looking I'd greatly appreciate anybody's ideas.

What condition is the mirror glass? Does it have any imperfections? I've had the heating elements in my e34, e38, & e39 side mirrors fail...which only required the purchase of new mirror glass to "fix" the issue.

If you only have the heated side mirrors...they probably aren't that expensive...if you have the heated/EC (auto dimming) side view mirrors...then be prepared to shell out a few Benjamins. :D

If the wiring all the way up to the mirror glass shows voltage, then the issue is probably with the heating elements of the mirror glass.

I don`t think hes getting power to the heatting element which means could be a broken wire somewhere ?

Ahhh...thanks...went back to re-read the original post...and I misssed the "no". For some reason I read it as "I'm getting power {up} to the heater element...using a volt meter on wires which connect to the mirror."

If everything "checks out" and its pointing to wiring...id recommend starting at the door pillar harness....it's sort of the halfway point and can tell you whether your problems are upstream (behind dash) or down stream (inside door). The plug comes apart easily once you remove the boot, and you can use a safety pin with alligator clips in conjunction with a multi meter to check for power.
