X5 E53 2003 pinouts & wire colors PLZ help

Hi All,
2003 X5 E53 3.0i
I`m putting bluetooth into my X5 but I dont know
which color wires to connect onto at the back of the in-dash
tv/nav/radio monitor, there are 2 harnesses with connection plugs
1 blue and 1 white (12 pins each)

Which colored wire/pins connect to what? ie speakers, ignition, mute etc etc
Any help appreciated

Thank you

Nose around in this link for a while and you should be able to find what you are looking for: WDS Tool

Thanks for the reply and the link, unfortunately I
have never read schematics, needle in haystack
for me trying to understand any of that?
Thanks again

Alright and I sympathize. I took electrical engineering for poets, so I'm no whiz either. Read the first page, right side. It tells you everything you need to know. Print it out and then go browsing through the diagrams.

Also, there is a website that specializes in retrofitting nav, blue teeth, and that sort of thing. Bimmernav.com or something like that. They may be able to help.

Have you looked at these threads?

jaima,

is the BT unit factory module? is your car pre-wired for the phone? North American modelas are all prewired, not so sure about the euro models... check your VIN to see if it is prewired... the BT connector is a 54-pin connector, plus it calls for a FAKRA connector for the antenna for the BT connection to the phone... also, you may have an SES module that may stay or may need to go, depending on the BT module that you have... if the SES was originally equipped, and the new BT module has the function built-in, then you need a jumper part to replace the SES module, if the SES was never part of the game, no jumper needed, or if the car is of the newer vintage, you don't need the jumper... so many variation - we need as much info about your current ride as well as the BT module...

Thanks for all the info and links, really appreciated,
The X5 is a European model,
I should have said the bluetooth is not factory, it
is an old Sony Ericsson HCB-30, it was installed and
working before I took it out 2 years ago trying to
find the cause of the dreaded battery drain.
I have the bluetooth installed now and working
apart from the radio mute as I dont know which
colored wire to connect on to behind the unit
(OBM mkIII) in the dash, there are 2 plugs/harnesses
that plug into the back of the unit (blue & white plugs)
Thanks very much for all the input, if anyone knows the
color(s) of the radio mute wire please let me know?

Thanks again guys

If it helps anyone the:
Constant 12v+ (battery): red/white
Ground/Earth: is a solid brown wire
Ignition wire: green/yellow (on a bunch of wires directly below the RADIO/NAV unit, OBM)
