Any advice for paint blemishes ?
How do you repair scratches, and nicks to your paint ? I've seen a few places that sell oem paint repair kits. Has anyone used them ? Any other suggestions ?
Thanks, |
do you have rust, are the scratches deep ,can you catch your fingernail in the scratch?
|
No rust, there are a few scratches that seem pretty deep. I don't think they will buff out. Problem is the car is black. and the scratches stand out.

DO you have any pictures? Preferably with a light source hitting it

black is a hard color to buff I could spend a day buffing and it still won`t be perfect. are the scratches white or can you see primer in the scratches , theres scratche I was able to get out in black colored vehicles I didn`t think I could by buffing , you have to melt the clear coat down a bit but be carefull you don`t want to burn through I`ve buffed lots of vehicles in my time years ago now my hands and arms are killing me from doing that and bodywork for over 15yrs . as for touch ups I use car doctor they give you a base coat which matches perfect for my color titanium plus the clear coat you put on after. and they give you some fine touch up sticksto plus instructions all depends how much time you want to spend touching up

Ive heard Dr. Colorchip isnt bad
|
If what you have is 'road rash', minor chips in the paint [usually front end from road debris], the Dr. ColorChip product [color matched] will work well. It basically fills the chip, then you 'smudge' off the excess with your finger [in a nitrile glove]. I used it successfully on a metallic black benz SLK, low hood of which picked up knicks. Apply it carefully to a very clean surface [remove the old wax, etc.] under bright lights so you see and get all the chips.

:iagree:I have very successfully used the following: Dr. ColorChip Automotive Paint Chip Repair Kit - Dr. ColorChip: Automotive Paint Chip Repair Systems
They send you matching paint. My paint is Safire Black. Be sure to watch their how to video as the technique you use is directly associated with how happy you will be with the results. And, don't rush it, take your time. Some problems will more coats than others, EVERY coat should be thin and always give it time to dry. Use the blending solution sparingly as too much will remove paint from the blemish. You can blend a spot in any direction. To blend a line you will need to only blend across the scratch. I can't tell where I used the product. I purchased their standard kit. |
i had no luck finding Estoril Blue
anyone have to order the custom color? just wondering how long it takes to come in |
