TX5, that's a pretty good price! Oh, and yeah, sealant would be a better term for it, not gasket. My bad.
I was comparing the BMW OE part with the old one. The joint of the OE has what seems to be reinforcements for the area with sealant. Also, the BMW OE tank mated together deeper and more flush than the non OE tank. For the price you get them for, it seems not worth the time to attempt a repair on these things. |
I have replaced three expansion tanks recently on three different BMW's an X5, X3 and a 320 and all three I used a Meyle expansion tank. I have found these to be very good

The E46 and the E53 have the same expansion tank so the job is essentially exactly the same

I will be replacing mine this coming weekend (probably not - I doubt the part will come in time). Here's hoping this one doesn't blow (pun intended)... |
