2001 X5 Service engine soon, ABS, brake and DSC lights on
The X is running perfectly fine but the 4 lights are on I have 2 codes on my OBDII (P0120 & P0221), I replaced the gas pedal thinking that was the problem but no luck :( After that I decided to go with an independent mechanic, unfortunately, in my town, there arent many mechanics that work on BMW cars, he was trying for two days to find what the problem was, he replaced the throttle body (not oem) and MAF and nothing change good thing he charge me only for 3 hours of labor and no parts were replaced, after that he said the next step is to replace the ECM. I denied to go on that route and took the car to the dealer, they called me this morning to let me know the diagnostic and it was faulty throttle body. I agreed to do the repair they have to order the oem part. I am afraid to hear that is not the problem after they install the new throttle body. Any experience with this guys or ideas? Thanks everybody!

This happened to me in August literally 1 week after buying it. It turns out the ABS module heats up while driving and eventually faults. I got on Ebay and bought a $100 "fix my ABS module" auction and I removed(2+ hours to get at the thing) the ABS module and shipped it down to somewhere outside of LA. 1 week later they returned the module and I haven't had a problem since. Every situation is different... Good luck!
This is a pretty common issue with E39/E53 cars, do some forum searching to help you out |

Still waiting
Still waiting to hear back from the dealer, they received the new TB and they told me there is a little bit of corrosion inside the connector, wich could be the problem too so now they are waiting to get the new plug. I really hope that is the problem.:dunno::(
