Oil filler cap suction on N62.

Hi Guys,

A couple of questions here:

1. Strong negative pressure barely letting remove the the oil filler cap.Some pressure at the dipstick too.

Is it normal for an N62?

2. CVV caps nipples have no vacuum hoses attached,no evidence of those being around,not a single.

Is that the way it should be? I would be extremely surprised if so.

Thanks as usual.

P.s. There's a slight whistling at start up,almost like a belt squeal,but barely noticeable.No evident oil consumption nor smoke puffs.

newer CVV caps have the nipples sealed off, even if they are to be used on the older engines with the vacuum hoses attached to the original nipples... so, absence of the operational nipples is OK

In my opinion;
- The first thing you should do at least once a year is check your CCV diaphragms (It only takes 10 minutes) This may be the cause of your whistle noise.
- The negative pressure is good and should be felt at the dipstick tube.
- If your diaphragms are working correctly, it has been my experience that when you remove the dipstick or oil filler cap for a short period of time, it will not effect the engine RPMs. (Removing the filler cap while the engine is running makes a mess)
- If you look closely at the CCV caps without the nipples, there is a small hole where the nipple would be. This allows the diaphragms to operate correctly but if you have a bad diaphragm, this could also be the source of the whistle

Hey, I have a 06 N62 = Would this be something to change out? I mean for only $20, seems like a simple item to replace that would hopefully not cause any more damage.

Repair kit, pressure regulating valve (2) Part #11127547058 $20.24

For $20 - Every few years (BMW has a bad reputation for their rubber product longevity)
