airbag on steering 2004 X5 steering wheel

ok hi all, cut a long story short, mechanic took of my airbag and damaged clips on wiring harness , now after much research i purchased a wiring harness that says was compatible with the 2004 sports steering wheel (but also compatible with the older 2003 sports steering wheel) i inspected the connectors black and green and the interfaces are the same, the only diff is the cable colours and also the little white plastic securing clip on the new cable.....on my existing setup the horn cable passes underneath the spring plate, but the new harness also is slightly longer and has a plastic clip that allows the horn cable and harness to be passed through it and on top of the spring plate, not underneath.....do you fellas think i will have an issue fitting airbag onto the new cable if i leave the cable on top?

I don't see why you should have any problems with the new cable.

thanks for the reply, well all wot I am worried about is the airbag seating properly if i use the little white plastic clip on the plate as in pic 2 , and passing the cable of the new harness through that, although on the original setup 1st pic, the actual spade connector that is for the horn protrudes up as far as the plastic clip....I guess best way would be to take the plate of totally and then attach horn cable and put plate on top, then that leaves me to deal with slightly longer harness cable

Should be fine. My M5 steering wheel has the white clip and it is now on the X5 with the X5's Airbag.

aquila thanks for input, question is what airbay did you put on the M5 steering wheel? cos there are 2 types on the x5 and seem different so clearance at back maybe different? was it the one from first pic that is 01-03year sports wheel or the one from 2nd and 3 pic which is a 2004 wheel which is the airbag I have and want to pop onto and over the white clips if possible.....(and as you say it is possible)

I think this is one of those (ifs) that you won't know until you try.

It's pretty snug in there if memory recalls...
