Replaced Mirror Lights with LEDs

Hello. I recently replaced my mirror puddle lights with LEDs and now I have a strange problem. I tested both lights prior to finishing the install, and now the lights are performing strangely. They are very dim, with only one or two out of the eight of the actual LEDs light. However, when I first unlock my car, they flash very bright, then go back to that dim mode. Any suggestions on what went wrong?

Sounds like a cheap LED Bulb that's driver circuit can't handle variance in voltage range. I would try something different. Like one with a Single SMD/SMT Diode

Here is a link to mine.

I'm sure that it had something to do with the voltage. I found that keeping one of the standard bulbs in, made the other side work. So I tapped into the wires for the housing, and wired the old bulb directly on it. I covered it with black electrical tape, and then inserted the new LED. Behold. My new LED puddle lights were successful. So a tip for anyone with a similar problem. Wire the old light bulb directly onto the wires, then insert the new LED in the housing. Worked perfectly.

Thanks for the help!
