my tranny was rebuilt about 4k km ago and my does the same from take off (
issue #1 - my accelerator pedal is extremely sensative, I literally have to touch the pedal and the car is off) and for number #2 I never mashed the gas so I don`t know ,I won`t try it. I`m babying the rebuilt tranny and x5 don`t want to take any chances just me being paranoid. and for#3 that never happened to me.

Is this normal then or can the accelerator be "de-sensitised"

There is a accelerator control module than can be reprogrammed or may need to be replaced.

The issue could also be tranny related. The transmission learns driving habits. It can be reset or updated if an update is available.

Try this.

Get in the car, turn the key to position 2 (don't start the car). Press the accelerator pedal to the floor and hold it there for 25 seconds. Start the car and drive. I have heard from numerous people that this "resets the trans algorhythm" Hey, it's worth a shot right?

Well I am absolutely gob smacked :yikes:

I tried this before I left work and it seems to have sorted out my problems.

I now have to press the accelerator 1 to 2 cm before the car takes off and the acceleration is much less aggressive than before.

When accelerating gently the car changed gear from 1st to 2nd at 2000 rpm, when accelerating modestly the car changed gear from 1st to 2nd at 3500 rpm and when I nailed it from a standstill the car changed from 1st to 2nd at 5000 rpm. All gear changes were smooth

I would not have believed a simple transmission algorithm reset would resolve this.

Thank you for the info
