I absolutely love it so far, aside from a few problems (alternator going, needing trans service). So far I've installed new plugs, pipercross air filter, alternator, front and rear pads and rotors, new belts and hoses, transmission filter, fluid flush, pan gasket, valve cover and oil pan gaskets, fuel filter and plasti dipped the kidney surrounds. Most of this stuff was done for peace of mind.

Looks great. I like the color. Did you paint the grill titanium and the border black yourself? I'm thinking about doing the same and painting the roof rack titanium, but also wrestling with wrapping them carbon fiber vinyl.

Brandon002 11-20-2013 12:06 PM

The titanium grills were a dealer installed option. I just painted the surrounds with plasti dip.

Nice ride! You will however be getting a 5 day ban for that forgetful infraction! LOL! j/k

How do you know your transmission is on it's way out?

Trans was slamming in to gear when taking off from a rolling stop. Hasnt done it again since i had the trans serviced at our local german mechanic.

Hopefully, that has fixed the issue. That's not a fun thing to deal with at all!

Brandon002 11-20-2013 12:13 PM

Definitely not. Felt like a neutral drop if i didnt come to a complete stop.

nice ride 4wheel air isnt the best option to have lol. I have it and personally,I could do without

Brandon002 11-20-2013 02:15 PM

the air suspension is kind of worthless. I guess about the only thing it's good for is slamming the car down to take pics, considering it raises up once you start driving. Still don't get the point of it.

Looks nice. Welcome.

Or if you have access to coding software you can calibrate to be lower all the time, or higher if you want as well, so your parking lot stance becomes every day stance :) And you still have the ability to go lower when parked via the switch, and higher too.

Very nice color. I have the same color with Black wheels and I cannot stop looking at it. You mentioned that you changed your oil pan gaskets, Was it a DIY or you had someone else do it? I need to do the same because I am getting a drop or two of oil every time I stop the X5.

Brandon002 11-20-2013 03:37 PM

I did it myself. Ive owned and repaired my own bimmers for about 20 years now though. Its a diy job if you know your way around a car and a tool box though.

Welcome! Looks great! Like the way you have complimented the color.

I know my way around the X5 by now. I do must DIY, but the oil pan gasket require the lifting of the engine and I don't have a lifting tool. That is the only stopper for me right now.

Brandon002 11-20-2013 05:24 PM

You can rent a hoist, or if youre careful you can raise the engine enough with a jack.

ArmyX5 11-20-2013 07:09 PM

Thanks,

I am going to wait a little while until I really have to do it or something else require me to take the suspension off.
