Quick oil change question

I was getting ready to do an oil change by following the directions posted in the tips section. When I went under the 4.8is, I noticed that it looked different from the direction for the 4.4.

So my question is, are these the plugs for the filter and draining the oil? Left is obviously the filter. Also what size socket is the filter cap? On my previous E39 I think it was 36mm. This truck's is significantly smaller

And oil drain plug is at the right....correct?

yes, no, maybe?

Doesn't the DIY for the 4.4 N62 oil change have the size listed for the oil filter cap (24mm)? If it does then check the part database for the 4.4 & 4.8 to see if they share the same part nbr.

on the DIY it says 36mm 6pt or 24m 12pt socket. But that part is easy.'

I wanted to really know if thats the drain plug. I know on the left its the filter but is that dot on the right the drain plug in the picture?

it look different on the DIY

Yes, that's the drain plug.

I made some note to the picture. I drain the oil filter before removing it so I wouldn't spill oil on the garage floor.

I hope TQ2K & tmv don't mind that I'm adding the 2 images below to my image rolodex for future use. :)

If either disapprove usage...just PM me and I will trash the pics and never use them:
