SES Light - Silly Owner (Me)
So, today I decided to change the Lower Timing Chain tensioner on the X. What a Royal PITA it is to get to it. Talk about tight spaces.
Anyway... I was able to somehow get it done. I started the car, but forgot to plug in the MAF. I was about to drive off - all the while wondering why the car's idle sounded weird - then the SES light came on. Right around the same time I said, "Crap! I forgot to plug in the MAF!"  I am assuming that is what triggered the SES light. If so, will it eventually go off by itself or do I need to go in and scan it first? |
After you drive it around and if that was the problem, the light will go off. If the light remains on something else is the problem.

Thankfully most SES issues can be read with a cheap scanner, which Autozone or other parts stores will do for free.

It generally took at least three start stop cycles with a good amount of time in between before my ses would clear itself.
