BMW X5 doesn't move in the morning

BMW X5 doesn't move in the morning.

BMW X5 4.4i 2002. When I start up in morning, I put it into drive and accelerate and the car does not move. I should wait about 5-10 min with running engine and then suddenly it will go. It only happens in the morning when engine is cold and only in drive, not reverse. Can anyone help?

Check the ATF fluid level, sounds like you are LOW.

I have changed transmission fluid and level is normal

I think maybe it is transmission fluid temperature sensor problem.

How long after "changing" the transmission fluid did the issue you mention in the first post start to occur?

Did you change the ATF with a hot engine/transmission? Is so, you are LOW. ATF fluid expands when it is hot and if the temp was over the recommended temp for checking the fluid, you are LOW.

And with the colder temp that we are now experiencing the ATF has contracted to the point that you are LOW.

X5 has to be level and the fluid (not the air) temp should be at 85 deg F when you change the trans fluid.
