Wish I could have sport seats AND the comfort massage function. Why do they force us to choose between the two?

now THAT is true dual climate control!!!
is this from the E39 M5? (my absolute dream car with air cooled seats)

with OBD port located next to ashtray, i would say it is an E38...

it is indeed loaded A169... i wonder, if they needed to add another button, they would have to put it on a ceiling or whatnot... :)

Looks like an E38.
I thought the aircooled seats didn't come out until the E65/6. The 5/7's had these massaging seats as an option though, and isn't the same seat in the X5 (comfort seats)?

The fully loaded accessory switch above is from the 99-01 e38 750iL. The buttons next to the heated seat buttons are the active comfort seat option (booty massagers). :)

The Active Comfort Seat uses a sophisticated system of motors and hydraulic chambers to move the seat up and down by 15 mm in a programmed fashion every 60 seconds.

The seat base contains two hollow containers filled with an ecologically safe liquid. These containers are alternately filled and emptied hydraulically to cause a raising and lowering of the right and left sides.
Over the 60-second cycle the Active Comfort Seat imparts a gentle rocking movement of the pelvis. The movement is almost imperceptible.

The movement keeps the spine in motion, exercises support muscles, improves blood circulation and helps avoid tenseness, fatigue and backache.

Also to OP i think its just the plecebo effect working on you, i think all sport does is just change the gearbox behavior but nothing else at all.

For the Coding people.
Playing with NCS dummy i found i could activate/deactivate speed sensetive steering or something like that, its at not active right now. but i do have the option as its shown on my window sticker

It was odd that they only offered them on the comfort seats used in the e38 & e39 (during that time)...and I guess BMW didn't want to have different size massaging pads. The 18-way sport comfort seats with the extending thigh support doesn't have enough room for both features (the bladders & extending thigh).

There were a few e38 guys that did retrofit (stuffed) the bladders into the sport seats though...if there's a will there's a way. :D
