Are these the cross bars for an e53 roof rack?
|
Need more information. If they are oe BMW crossbars...then we need the 11 digit BMW part nbr.
An image alone without any measurements isn't enough. There are multiple cross members for multiple BMW models that have roof rails...and they all have different widths. So again, without any details or info...an image alone is not worth guessing. :) They could be for any of the generations of BMW 3 series Tourings, 5 series Tourings, X3, or X5...again, without any other indication as to what they were previously used on, or the BMW part nbr (which will absolutely identify which BMW models they fit)...it all a pig-in-a-poke. :D You can also look up the BMW part nbr for the e53 cross members...then run it through the part nbr cross reference on any of the online part databases (like realoem or bmwfans.info) and see if the e53 cross members can be used on other BMW models...if so, then you can search for any of those cross member. If not, then you'll know that only racks for the e53 will work. RealOEM.com * Diagram Selection (this is what the earlier cross members looked like for the e53 (as well as other models mentioned above) BMW Part # 82 71 0 399 453 or 82 71 0 005 998 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/diagrams/y/q/126.png (BMW then changed the design to look like the cross members below...but again, there's different part nbrs based on which BMW model you have to accommodate the different widths) BMW Part # 82 71 0 415 053 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/diagrams/u/r/189.png |
I responded for more info.
Genuine BMW X5 (E53) Roof Rack with Wrench and Manual That is all I currently have. |
Unlike the sedan counterparts, there isn't flexibility between touring and SAV racks. Those could also be for an E39 which is a lot shorter. Good news is if the seller doesn't know what he's selling, have him do a quick measurement shortest distance between the 2 clamps for both bars and measure your rails. So if it's a quarter of an inch within then you're good.
The X3 bars are about 3" shorter from the X5 and the touring bars are another 4" shorter. hth |

I would like to point out the newer style looks better and is more aerodynamic (less wind noise) |
It's hard to tell scale with nothing to compare but those look short to me.
If they are what I need is 100 reasonable? |
Yea $100 sounds about right for this older style rack. I got the newer one from the E70 and I paid over $200

These are on Amazon for 198.

And 20% off with BMWCCA discount so right around 200 out the door. That gives me an excuse to go new.
Thanks! |
Should look at getting a set of Rola crossbar. They look more OEM then the OEM bars. I have them on my X and use them for my Thule Roof Box in the winter when we go skiing and the Thule bike racks in the summer.

Those look great. Thanks.

This site has a list I found helpful for the e53 roof load bars. I've ordered from them in the past and they have been good to work with.
https://www.etrailer.com/roof-2005_BMW_X5.htm Both the Rola and the Thule 7503s get my vote as the sit low. J 2005 4.8is |

Havent fitted cross bars before because dont like the raised OE ones or similar.
Fitted these yesterday to my X5 .They were cut to size ,are made of aluminium and are available in silver or black. No wind noise at all ,upto 100kph ,but some wind noise thereafter ,as expected from a cross bar. Bought them from Ebay UK seller, very friendly and helpful.Posted via Fedex and he will also post to US! BRUSHED ALUMINIUM ROOF RACK CROSS BAR BARS RAILS SET FOR BMW X5 2000-06 | eBay |
those look like one ones on are wagon

At $100 they are a good buy, I just sold a set fr $150.
The set I had were marked E53...and I used them on my E39 touring (1999) and E53 X5 (2006) Make sure you get the instructions and the wrench....in the manner of BMW "stuff" they are a bit complicated to get them on right. |
