Names not showing on screen with iPhone
 

Hi

This might be an easy one but when my phone rings in my E53 '05 X5 through bluetooth the names don't come up on the screen telling me who's calling. It used to when I had a BB but not with the iphone. Does it not happen with iPhones or am I doing something wrong?

It's your iphone.

Actually this is usually because of different versions of the bluetooth version being used by the car and the phone, and how the phone handles a downgrade for compatibility. Maybe there is a setting in the iphone to allow for a less secure connection, or more open connection to allow phonebook/contact sharing over bluetooth or a compatibility setting?

I don't know if this applies to an Iphone, but on other phones, the contacts need to be in the phone's memory, not on the SD card.

iphones don't have memory cards.

Thanks for the help guys but I can't see any settings that would help. Can everyone else get the name of the person calling on their screen? I don't know if it's just me.

I also need to say that I can bring up my phone book and dial numbers from it, but when I receive a call the name/number doesn't show on the screen.

I have the same problem with my 04 x5's factory Bluetooth and my iphone 5. Absolutely nothing shows on the car's screen when the phone rings and I cannot access my phone book either.

I always get the name of the caller if it is in my contact list. I have an Iphone5.

I get the number when someone calls me, but I have an Android phone, not an eye phone.

ArmyX5, do you know what type of Bluetooth you have? E53s come with visteon or Motorola bluetooths.
