X5 3.0d Injectors

Hi guys......
I'm quite technical and dabble a bit with mechanics but my question is has anyone on here done the diesel injector removal? Can't see to find any guides or videos on the net? Is it a strait forward job? Are any special tools needed? Thanks guys... Any advise welcome!

The diesel injectors tend to almost weld themselves in place, and can break or snap off rather than come out.
I'd avoid removing them unless it was absolutely necessary; or if I was going to replace them anyway and breaking them wasn't all that of a concern .
Why do you need to remove them?

There are specific extractor tools as they are so troublesome to remove. Fairly common to find in France as it's a diesel market and the M57 was used in the E46.

While you are at it, you should update your breather to the vortex type if you have the version with the mini replaceable filter (some call it a mini loo roll).

If your engine (X5 generally don't have them) has the intake swirl flaps, this is a ticking time bomb and you should remove them and install blanking plates.

Luckily, BMW never fitted swirl flaps to any e53 diesel X5.
