*RESOLVED* Rain sensor issue
 

I'm having an issue with my rain sensor. It doesn't work. Doesn't automatically sense the rain, I have to constantly adjust it to make the wipers work. After 20 min of driving it finally functions, but the sensitivity sucks.

There is a bubble where the sensor mounts to the wind shield. Anyway to swap the sensor without changing the windshield? Anyway to disable the sensor and use the wipers the old fashion way?

I believe the way to do it is to remove the glass and replace the sensor with new glue., But if you are looking for the old fashion way, work it the old fashion way. 1st position is int, 2nd position is slow, and 3rd is fast.

My first position is the rain sensor, second position is fast, 3rd position is even faster. Even the 2nd position is too fast.

yo can pull fuse 41 in glove compartment, and that should make the wiper operate at standard, intermittent mode but you may lose the rear wiper operation... if this is what you desire, there is a possibility to pull a pin, (pin 21, connector X10460 behind glove compartment) at the back of the fuse box from the rain sensor, without interferring with the GM and the rear wiper...

pull the fuse first, see if it operates to your likening, and if you wish, i can guide to remove the pin 21 to seal that type of operation... the next owner will hate me for telling you this!!!!

You could try that... but I believe the sensor works 2 ways. One is on a timer and the other is radar. Most of the time the radar function is what goes kaput.. but the timer will still work. If you just leave it in the first position and increase the intensity, it will wipe at the predetermined time.

you are correct - this is what i am suggesting the OP to do, disable the rain sensor altogether, so it works in the old fashioned way... but the OPs sensor is working after 20 minutes of driving, so it is not completely kaput, just acting up... so, instead of putting up with temperamental sensor, just cut it off...

fuse 41 operates the rain sensor, the rear wash and wipe and is also connected to the GM... pulling that fuse will kill the sensor and might tamper with the some other operations... pulling a pin just from the sensor will keep the other functions operational...

If I were you, I would fix the rainsensing sensor. It will affect also the auto headlights to a certain degree.

Taking out the fuse disabled the wipers altogether. I'll try the silicon next
