cheers - when you say take a look inside the dash, what exactly should I be looking for? I've checked all I can, and it certainly does not seem wet or damp.

The boot is also bone dry - including the wheel well and both sides around the first aid / cd changer etc.

damaged wiring or extra wiring that looks out of place, as in someone had previously installed something like an aftermarket alarm, or stereo and did a shoddy splicing job. all the factory wiring will be in nice neat bundles with the awesome black felt tape and carefully secured by nice clips and routed deliberately. Shouldn't be any wires or bundles hanging loosely anywhere, or using zip ties for bundling. Damaged wiring should be obvious because either melted plastic or frayed/cut wire bundles should be fairly easy to spot.

And one more clarification, the NAV/Radio screen doesn't turn on, do you still get sound, or it is totally inoperable?

Will the radio work if the key is just turned to the Accessory position?

If the ignition switch has a bad contact, turning the lights on could allow the light control circuit to backfeed the other items on the ignition switch that share a common contact point.

Thanks, i'll have a look.

The Nav Screen only works when the lights are on (either sidelight or dipped) regardless of ignition position. There is no sound or picture until then - it does flicker though but buttons remain useless until the lights are switched on.

My only thoughts with water are that this only started happening this week - just as we started getting torrential rain and flooding. That said, i've not driven through stupidly deep water or anything. Maybe coincidence.

Thanks for your help.
