Custom spring rates for X5?
I ordered some BC Racing BR + that came with swift springs. Circuit motor sports offered me custom spring rates, but I went with stock. I tried finding the spring rates for KW's ,but no luck. What is your opinions? did I make the right choice of staying with stock spring rates? Always after I make a payment I start to have second thoughts...
What I went with: Front=9kg/mm(500lbs/inch), rear=12kg/mm(671lbs/inch) Edit: I have sport package and I'm comfortable with the ride. Just the thought on possibly having a "better" ride by adjusting the spring rates. |
I asked this question before and got nothing

And u should have ordered the extreme drop coilovers with the air cups and slam it lol

Edit: also threw in the rear camber plates, I'm not sure if I will be able to correct the camber with the stock adjustment. I want to keep my tires lol!!! |
Post some pics when they're installed I'm looking to but the extreme drop kit for mine but I'm waiting until my birthday in March. Any reason why u got the swift springs?

Did some research and many people did recommend over the bc racing springs. I figured why not pay the extra couple hundred and be satisfied. Some people did say you wont notice a difference with the swift springs though. I wont be able to afford the kw's at about 3k. So the bc racing with swift springs were the next best option for me. I want to pair the coils with some 128's 21 x11.5 :). I have to start scrapping some money for tires next because we all know the price for offsize tires. Unless any body has some ideas for some good looking wheels that are wide

Delivery time is about to 4-6 weeks because they have to be custom made at the warehouse.

There is a guy on NYC Craigslist that has a set of 128's for 1400

You mind giving me a link I checked ,but i can't find it? Another thought was some corvette wheels they are 20 x 12's ,but until i find someone to do a photochop for me...

I have ran everything from 6k to 14k in the front as well as 6-20k in the rear.
The 9k front 12k rear is absolutely perfect. I ran 2.5 front camber 2.0 rear with 315-35-20's all the way around on 20x11 +25. |
I ended up going 11k front 14k rear becausd i plan to dd slammed!!

The spring rate you can get away with using on the front will depend how far you lower the car, without bottoming out. If you lower a lot, you need harder springs, than if you lower a little..
I went for a very minor lowering (1"), so the 9/12 spring rates were harder than I needed. I ordered replacement springs, and things are pretty decent now. I am using softer springs than mentioned above. I am using 9kgs on the rear, but am using airbags to supplement this, and raise/lower the rear of the car for loading. I'm still working on the best option for the front. Don't forget that if you go for softer springs, you might want to allow for more spring travel/longer spring. ie: if you have a 20cm long 9kg spring, and want to go to 7kg, you *might* need to go to a 25cm long spring to avoid bottoming out. Those of you slamming; just want cast iron girders :) Cheers, Scott. |
