Cooling question
Hey Guys,
Let me just say thanks for the wealth of knowledge that is here and the willingness to help out. This is a great place. Normally, my temp gauge has run pretty much straight up, half way between the two marks, which I think I've read on here is normal operating temp. Today it was very cold here, ranging from 12 - 28 degrees. For the most of the day, the gauge ran below the first line, sometimes just above the blue. This seemed to affect the air front the vents as it was not all that warm. So, here's my question. Shouldn't the thermostat let it get up to operating temp. Is my thermostat stuck open? |
Hmm, I'm wondering that too, as mine's running a bit cool, though it's been very cold here, but it doesn't seem to be cold enough for that where you're at... a mystery!

Thermostat isn't working right. It should limit the coolant flow and easily heat up to operating temperatures. I lived in some cold places and never had a problem with a vehicle not getting up to operating temp unless the thermostat was stuck open...

Well, shiver me timbers. Ah well, at least it's a DIY I can do :)

Sounds like a thermostat that's stuck open, had the exact same issue on my old E36 M3.
