And please for the love of god don't install Uro or MTc parts at all on your X. Cheap Chinese junk. I bought a Uro PS reservoir and threw it out, it was a third the price of oem and I could tell why. Plastic was thin as hell and cheaply made.

What about Febi? Don't they make OEM parts for BMW?

Febi is owned by Bilstein, a good brand of parts.

I've never seen their door carrier, but I wouldn't hesitate to use Febi parts anywhere on my E53, go for it! Some of my front susp replacement parts are Febi.

LOL...well I just bought the cheap chinese junk, but here's why. I'm in NC and last February on a cold morning when the temperature dipped into the 20's, the driver's side carrier broke. This was the 3rd driver's side carrier I'd been through and I'm the 2nd hand owner of my 2003 X. I replaced it and went about my life. Now, less than a year later...another cold morning this Wednesday...I'm telling myself be careful and don't tug on the handle if it doesn't release easily. Well I didn't tug. I pull on it like a 6-month old baby would pull on your thumb. And sure enough....snap, my fourth broken driver's side carrier :banghead::banghead:

And this, ladies and gentleman was my 3rd, genuine, right off the boat from Deutchland, BMW door handle carrier. It snapped like a cheap toothpick.

The moral of the story my friends is that the genuine BMW parts are garbage. This piece of garbage genuine carrier goes around $100. So as I'm about to drop another $100 on a new carrier yesterday, I notice that my favorite online parts supplier also sells a knock-off for just under $50. I figure, could it possibly be worse quality than the genuine BMW part? Highly unlikely. If this one snaps, as it probably will next winter, then at least I'm only out $50. But sorry guys, there is no way that it's worse than the crap authentic BMW part. No way.

That's a funny story, I know how you feel, I've got two of my doors that won't open because of broken door handles. BMW can't even design an all weather door handle, not to mention all the other things that break with regularity on the X5...lol!

Well, I have replaced both driver and passenger sides with knock off. The driver side was done about a year ago and it's still holding fine, passenger side was about a week ago and it's still working fine but hasn't been used that much. And if i remember correctly i spend about $40/each (ebay). Perhaps pure luck. But i agree with previous post, avoid MTC and URO especially for mechanical parts. My local euro parts does not carry them, he told me he would rather loose business than sell those brands.
