02 4.6is lowering springs?

My 02 has the rear air suspension only. I have seen springs advertised for this set up but did not know what was involved or if they would work.

Has anyone with a 4.6 had this done and can your recommend springs and cost.

She is in the shop getting timing chain, fuel pump, oil pump, all new gaskets and all new lifters. Long story but the lifters are on the shop as they gave it to me with no oil pressure and it killed two lifters.

If I can get them in time I would like the shop to go ahead and put them on.

Thanks,

Shawn

You can put the lowering springs for the front on the X, but you need to get lowering links for the rear in order to make the rear air springs sit even compared to the front.

Or perhaps you can lower the rear axle with DIS/GT1 or INPA to match the fronts once the springs are installed?

Can these be installed at home or will a shop have to do them?

I installed the H&R lowering kit which comes with shorter links for the rear on my 4.6 several years ago. To install the front springs the strut has to be disassembled. You will need to compress the both the existing spring and the shorter one to do that. You will need a spring compressor that is available to rent at most auto parts stores. The job is straight forward otherwise. At least the wheel you are working on will have to be off the ground. You will also need to have a full alignment done when you are finished. The following will give you an idea of the DIY. It is a 4.8 so ignore anything concerning air shock Also, no need to remove any fuses, you can easily get by without a bicycle wrench and he is overly cautious about damaging other parts. Not the best DIY video but all I could find. There are also DIYs that you can search out here.
