Hate to sound stupid but I've been under the X5. I've looked and looked but can't seem to locate the Crankshaft Position Sensor.

Does anyone happen to have a picture from underneath or can point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance!

Here's a picture with the starter removed so you can see the CPS.

Wow thanks! Will I be able to see and get to it without starter removed?

You are not going to see anything from below, the removal and re-installation will have to be by touch.

Is that a torx or allen nut? My local mechanic tried an allen wrench but it won't budge and he's afraid he'll strip the nut.
Thanks

It an Allen Bolt.
