Pop goes the weasel. No, wait that was my hood.

Today, for the second time, my hood popped after hitting a bump on the highway. I've cleaned and lubed the springs and catch, and I'm at a loss as to why this keeps happening, since it seems to close and latch, though the passenger side doesn't seem to go all the way down (small gap). When I close it, even a forceful pull on the hood doesn't budge it, but a highway pump pops it... any clues?

check and adjust your bump stops on the hood, should level the passenger side that you have a problem with

By bump stops I guess you mean those things with the springs? How do you adjust em?

Your latches

Your latches are shot ,there 20 bucks apiece maybe a few cables need replaced .

Yeah, sounds like a sticky latch. To confirm... mimic a road bump. When you hit a bump, the hod doesn't just go up, it's law of physics. Place your fingers between the grill slats and your thumb on the top of the hood. In a quick motion, push down swiftly and then pull up a few times. I bet if you do that, you will feel it pop.

LOL! It just got cheaper. Turned the bump stops a bit, and it's closing nice.
