No love

Where's the love for the x1? I'm feeling lonely in the x1 forums. Do I need to trade up to the x5!?:dunno:

Moezer 01-23-2014 01:26 PM

x1 sucks because of the new f1s lol no one likes the looks but I hear it has nice power

Ricky Bobby 01-23-2014 01:31 PM

X1 is ugly. Trade it in.

Tell me what you really think :stickpoke

Well, I guess reading the X5 forums will suffice.

And yes the power is really great!

I'll ride it for four years and get the X6 I really want. For now it is great! :nanana:

TiAgX5 01-23-2014 01:37 PM

When I see X1s on the road I confuse them with Honda CRVs and Toyota RAV4s. What happened to distinctive BMW styling???

Land Rovers too, I confuse the new ones with Ford Explorers!!!!

These "new age" auto designers must be smoking the modeling clay!

JCL 01-23-2014 01:38 PM

I sold my E53 in 2007. We bought an E83 X3 which we still have. A family member has an X1, which I have driven and enjoy. They are all good. I consider this an X forum, and the number after the X is pretty irrelevant to me. I read most of the sub forums, but the E53 forum has the most traffic.

I think you are confusing size with styling. I don't think an X1 looks anything like a CRV or RAV4. But it is smaller than an E70. Which is a good thing.

TerminatorX5 01-23-2014 01:46 PM

Well, ugly or not, sucks or doesn't - it is still part of the family... we choose mates, we don't choose siblings... I personally find the 1-series looking like a surprised owl, waken up in a daytime...

I did not see many X1s on the road to make a conclusive opinion on one, but hey dude - welcome to the forum...

we love you, little fella!!!

I like the styling. If there's anything I can see being similar to it is the Suburu forester, not a toyota.

the Xdrive version is.

Ricky Bobby 01-23-2014 02:19 PM

At least yours is tastefully styled, nice wheels, sport package, etc. First nice looking one i've seen. All the others are ugly lower end models with glaring bumpers making it look like a Subaru Outback commercial.

Just messing with my comments, I can be sarcastic (a lot of us can) here, we're all X-whatever family members.

Enjoy the 4 years you have with it, I'll probably still have my E53 by then, love it and won't be giving it up for a long time. No car payment but still having a nice car is a plus.

The headlights pulled back up the hood and towards the A-pillars, along with the black plastic lower bumper pulled up say "Make in Japan" to my eye.

Looks too much like a Chinese copy of a X5

You're going to trade up for the ugliest car BMW ever made? ;)

TiAgX5 01-23-2014 03:08 PM

The new BMWs have proven their "style group" has forgotten the Bauhaus ideology, form FOLLOWS function.

Headlight plastic that's double the required size has Sullivan, Loos and Groupius rolling in their collective graves.

BMW designers need to sign up for a night course, Elimination of Unnecessary Form 101!

wasn't Isetta the ugliest???:dunno:

there also was a strange Z1 with dropping doors... :nanana:

on the other hand, the gorgeous Nazca ( i think Z12?) is beautiful...

ProfessorX5 01-23-2014 03:14 PM

For me, it's the X6 hands down. When I see any other BMW, I smile and say, 'MAH BRUTHA!' but when I see an X6 I look the other way like it's a cousin I don't like. ;)

Welcome!

First thing I always check on anything that is interesting to me is the 0-60 time. Even the X1 2.8 gets to 60 in 6.3. seconds. The only stock E53 that tops that is the 4.8. The x35i takes 5.6 seconds. I bet it is fun to drive and a great street sleeper.

Looks like a BMW to me.

The Isetta gets a pass. It was designed by aircraft engineers to keep BMW afloat post WW2. They followed the form follows function.

Welcome !!!
Looks good to me ! Should not be compared to X5 IMO, my wife will return her benz C series and i will also return my B200 (here is a small comparable)... We might change for X1 or BMW serie 1 convertible ....this is going to be my wife car ...

giodog2000 01-23-2014 08:01 PM

Congrats on the X1 and welcome.

Now on a personal note , the ugliest is the Grand Tourismo....sry for the GT fans out there. :nanana:

Kristophe 01-24-2014 12:11 AM

The first time I saw an X1 on the road I had to look twice then a third time as it seems "stretched out" to me...but they're distinctively BMW. Welcome to the X forums.

pezho405 01-24-2014 12:16 AM

C'mon guys.. be nice.

ProfessorX5 01-24-2014 12:19 AM

Yeah, welcome. Don't mind the teasing. Some of us draw evil rabbits for a living. ;)

pezho405 01-24-2014 12:27 AM

Hey i LOVE the looks of the X6, probably against popular opinion here... maybe the X1 will grow on them

Cchandler 01-24-2014 12:39 AM

I like the X1. Great city car that can get you up to the pass for skiing - why not!

pezho405 01-24-2014 01:08 AM

USA just isnt place for X1, Fits really well in russia, small as city car, igh enough ground clearance for the roads, cheaper than the X356, Its a BMW, lots of girls driving one in vrn and msk

tmv 01-24-2014 10:37 AM

:xoutpost: at least you didn't get the base version.

Enough for me to NOT drive one. :D

ProfessorX5 01-24-2014 11:07 AM

:iagree:Yeah what he said.

Peregrin-O 01-24-2014 12:38 PM

Its too wagon-ie for me. Kind of like a 535i on steroids(in a bad way). I dont like wagon looking cars but hey, all that matters is that you like it.

I wonder what kind of gremlins the X1 will develop....

Here in Coppell, TX, these seem to be the go-to vehicles for girls heading off to college, 3 neighbors sent their daughters off in X1s.

You see more guys in Miatas then X1s here.

Just noticed the rear side glass, what happened to the BMW sig Hoffmeister kink???

On behalf of OP-- I didn't ask you what you thought of my X1. I thought it might be a good idea to be a part of a forum where there is some activity-- not feeling the love, is this part of a hazing initiation?

I don't like the X6 either, but it gets out-uglied by the Audi A7!

Normal reaction to a new body style like this specially when you address a conservative crowd like us E53 owners. We are very opinionated between the E70 and E53 so imagine what a giant leap this is between the E53 and the X1.
I'm not sure why OP choose to come in the E53 section seaking for love ( and you know I love you man ) but he had to expect , as older body style X's owners , that we would have lots to say....

How about this yellow X1 M///

WHYYYY?

Helihover 01-24-2014 05:03 PM

Followed an X1 in some funky red color on the freeway the other week. The car does have some really nice lines. It actually started growing on me during the 15-20mins of staring.

That yellow M posted above looks hot! I like the look of that one.
Nice sav's.

Peregrin-O 01-24-2014 10:04 PM

The pronunciation explains it all:

Ex-One...
Ex-Won....
Es-Wogn....
Es-Wagon.....

And there you have it....:nanana:

JCL 01-25-2014 02:40 AM

Given that the E53 is an E39 touring with a raised roof, I don't understand the criticism of wagons.

Sheesh! All the negative comments, let's all keep in mind, the Roundels are the same size no matter what model of Bimmer we drive!

Welcome to Xoutpost.com! This is the best place to be for all of your questions about your ride, very knowledgeable experts here indeed. Congrats on your new X'er and enjoy the ride!

To be honest the X5, at least here in Los Angeles is the staple mom car.

ctuitele 01-25-2014 07:13 AM

Thanks!

I got a nice warm welcome. Gave me warm fuzzy feels. Now to find the nice people :(

No really, I'm enjoying this post. Thanks for the comments! I posted here when I saw (150) people viewing compared to the Zero in the x1 forum.

I think I found the love. Nonetheless glad to be here. :D

Congrats on your X1!Nice spec, best wheels for it too!Great looking car.
Here at the dealer ,we get quite a few X1s in and with less problems than with the E53 or E70!
Dont understand all the negative comments here! You x1 is worth more than most E53 here in the Forum, maybe thats why ,hehhhee;)

Its pathetic to even compare it to "rice" suvs! The front of the X1 still has the distinctive grill and the headlights with angel eyes and a good resemblence to the series1,could only be BMW !
The rear styling,I am not the only that sees that is similar to the F15 ...but much nicer! We have a few F15 in the showroom and only the M50 with the bulging sides and bumpers ,distract you from the ugly rear!!!
You have a nice car ,there,so keep it and enjoy it for many years!

The criticism is that at least the E53 doesn't look like a wagon. haha

Ok ok, Im sorry just giving you a hard time ctuitele.I obviously have wagon issues...lol
Yeah, I've also heard that over there a lot of moms drive X5's, heck a lot of guys on here get their wives X5's; most of them are stock though. I personally have always liked customizing my stuff like my X.
But yeah, I'm sure your X is a nice car and it drives great. What color do you have?

If you have a question or need some help most of the people that haven't come across as nice will still do what they can to provide you what you need.

Some of the comments may have been teasing. In my view, the problem with teasing in writing, especially to someone new, is there is no way to read the writers face or body language. Even when we add-- we are teasing-- it doesn't sound sincere. Generally, teasing is saved for someone you have known for some time and it is clear they won't take it personal. If it is piled on we risk that all of us will be perceived as not nice or arrogant smart a$%es.

Pleased you have hung in there and you can blow, didn't take it personal and took the high road. My suggestion is if you are not treated with respect ask that person or persons why they are being such an a#$hole, or, private message them and tell them what you think of their comment. I have received a couple of PMs to resolve differences.

ctuitele 01-25-2014 04:36 PM

Haha, nothing was taken personal. Just enjoying the forums and getting to know the lot. It packs a nice punch and fun to drive for sure. I have it in Alpine White.

Anyone reccomend a good wax/ sealant for alpine white?

I have used Zaino for many years because if is so easy to apply and it lasts so long. The more layers you add the deeper the shine. They also have a sealer and an in between applications enhancer that can be also used be to get the dust off in between without causing swirling.
