If you haven't already, check to see if the 12v socket in the rear and the backrest switch for rear seat work.

I have just switched over the two plugs to the washer pumps and the rear doesn't work so I'm wondering if I should look at the stalk. But this wouldn't explain either the heated rear window or the brake light! |
If you have that switch, it is on the bottom right side when the upper hatch is open.
When you switched over the connectors the front wipers would be controlled by the rear control on the stalk. Have you checked the brake light bulb? Do you know if all lost current at the same time? |

Yes, but with the two plugs switched, neither pump worked which is very odd. I have no switch then and no, I haven't checked the bulb yet. Job for the weekend. |
It appears to me, looking at wiring diagram in Bentley service manual, the rear wiper and the 12 socket are powered by the same current source.
Next I would check for current on both sides of fuse 83 where power is provided to rear wiper/wash. |

No, not yet. I'm going to investigate further over the weekend. |
Problem solved. Did some more investigating today and with the help of a decent torch and a magnifying glass, spotted a broken wire right in the middle of the sleeve. Socked it in penetrating oil which allowed me to slide it back into the body to give me a bit of room to effect a repair and discovered a total of four broken wires and about four or five more cracked.
Did the required repairs and her presto. All seems to be working again. Phew! :-) |
Excellent - Congratulations!!!!
Could you please update the title of this thread to say SOLVED, FIXED, RESOLVED or something to this effect? This way, next guy looking for help may find the thread and relate to it... Thank you :) |
