All, again thank you for the informational responses. The battery that is giving problems now is only a week old. I have considered all responses and will keep on the course of avenue I choose. The car is parked outside and I have to wait until is starts warming up slightly. At this point it's -23 degrees. :confused:

i had a brand new battery with 1015 CCA as tested off the shelf, out the door... the same battery, less then 4 weeks old, was testing at 715 CCA (nominal 900 CCA). replaced within 30 days, got another one... no problems since... in about 15 years of BMW ownership i've had DOA batteries more than enough, thus i do not trust a "brand new" batteries any more...

I'm surprised Orr gave you bad info. For whatever reason, I thought they had a clue.

No other advice as all the smart people got here before I did...

If your voltage on the OBC is reading that low with the engine running, it's the charging system.

You could put a brand spanking new, tested and proven to work battery in and the light would still come on and the voltage would read low with the engine running.
