2001 CD Changer
Just bought an adaptor to utilize the CD changer circuitry to hook up my iPod. Didn't have a cd changer and now with the adaptor hooked up the radio doesn't see the adaptor. I can change functions from radio to cd in radio but it doesn't see the "CD Changer" adaptor. DUH I also lost the radio manual.

when you did not have CD changer, you probably did not have CD function in the choice list... with the adaptor emulating the changer, the system thinks it sees the CD changer.. that is your adapter - the CD changer
|
That's the problem I don't have the choice. Function button gives me radio and internal cd player, not changer????

It will help if you told us what type of adapter you brought and what type of stereo system you have DSP or non DSP. I have a Grom unit which is connected to where the rear CD changer. I can use my IPOD or stream music from my phone via bluetooth to the car stereo.

give us more details - where you connected to the system, which wires you connected with, what system you have in the car (as a matter of fact - what car you got), what adapter you bought...
don't forget, what is obvious to you, as you stand next to your setup, is totally unknown to us, who are miles away and have to rely on your words... |
Another DUH! 2001 3.0 non DSP radio. Adaptor is USA-SPEC...PA12-BMW. Finally dug out six pin connector and connected three pin connector with brown pin 3 per instructions. How do you verify a non DSP radio
Radio has no DSM button on right side |
The six pins and three pins connectors should have been bundle together. There's another three pins connector that is used for the phone power. That is the wrong connector to use for the stereo adapter since the ground is located on the wrong pin.

Yep, got that one right. #3 pin is brown
