After maintenance more codes, why?

Hi all,

I just finished replacing the valve cover gaskets, intake manifold gaskets (including front and back),timing cover gaskets and oil separator and hose. I have an 01 4.4 and had 2 codes po171 and 174 with an oil leak.

After during the maintenance, I don't have the codes 171 or 174. Now I have these codes: Po207, 021, p1341, 1355 and 1343. Currently it is running like crap. What is going on?

Thanks in advance

Did you google the codes to see what others have done in the past? I wonder if some of the codes stem from the recent work done? The info below was found by simply typing "BMW OBD II code XXXXX" into a google search box (where X=the 5 digit DTC):
  1. OBD-II Trouble Code: P0207 Cylinder 7 Injector Circuit Malfunction
  2. Code P0021 "A" Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance (Bank 2)
  3. P1341 BMW Multiple Cylinder Misfire With Fuel Cut-off OBDII Engine Light Trouble Code | Engine-Codes.com
  4. P1355 BMW Misfire Cylinder 7 With Fuel Cut-Off OBDII Engine Light Trouble Code | Engine-Codes.com
  5. P1343 BMW Misfire Cylinder 1 With Fuel Cut-off OBDII Engine Light Trouble Code | Engine-Codes.com

I suspect that you didn't put it back correctly. There's an injector circuit code and misfired code for cylinder 7, also misfired code for cylinder 1. I would check the injector clips to make sure they are fully connected, then clear the codes and see which (if any) come back.

P0171 and P0174 are lean codes for Bank 1 and Bank 2. Like someone mention before you probably didn't put something back together correctly. Check the MAF and the rubber gasket gaskets used to seal the MAF.

Ok, this is a follow up or progress report on the current situation. I used Electronic Cleaner on all electric connectors and that got rid of 4 of 5 codes. I now have Po021 Bank A cam sensor. The truck is running soooo much better. I think I will drive it to work tomorrow. Any advice on this code?

Thanks

It's a P0021 code, not a Po021

This DTC code is a result of a mechanical fault of the VCT (Variable Cam Timing) unit (Vanos) or related components. Did you do anything to the Vanos?

Thanks for the correction. No I just replaced the timing cover gaskets. By the way, it drives fine.
