What is that ring? First time I saw that! But yea from what I see a lot of people just pulled it out and its been fine. I ended up just putting everything back together. Never got that plastic piece out but Im sure it will be in the filter next time around

The check valve I wasn't too worried about. That bushing tipped me over and I did the pump. The bill wasn't pretty, particularly when you add up all the rest I had done on that visit.

I can only imagine. I tried looking that up to see what that was but didn't really find anything on it. Did you ever find out where that went?

There was a picture in the thread I linked that shows the disassembled oil pump. The mechanics found where it came from and it was the pump. It wasn't anything you can find on realoem - it's part of a part. I ran without that check valve for a while, but the bushing tipped me over - that wasn't a part I felt should be missing. Not a repair for the faint of heart, but I keep my cars for a long time and fix everything as I go. And then there's the "while your in there" repair adders that always get me.
