Intermediate lever date stamp?

Since I've got my valve covers off - I figured I'd take a peek at the intermediate lever date-stamp to see if mine were either:

1. Within the date-range of "bad" ones

2. Have been replaced already.

I don't see a date code anywhere? Is it possible they have been replaced with the improved type? http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/03/05/vajuryhy.jpg

Look for the intermediate lever production date (stamped on the lever, next to the smaller roller contacting the eccentric shaft).

If the production date is in the range between "04 180" and "04 324" (e.g. day 324 of the year 2004), then the whole set of intermediate levers (16) has to be replaced. The same classification of levers must be used when ordering the intermediate levers (classification number is stamped below production date). There are 5 classifications of levers used in the N62 engine.

Been looking all over for a picture of these date stamps. From the description of where it should be located - I'd think it'd be here. Has anyone "seen" one of these date stamps before?

I'm in the same boat, while doing the vss took the lever out and there is no date stamped on them per the SIB. Nor the "class" number. Is BMW dicking around? Lol

Ok I found it. It's not a engraving but literally like an ink stamp so if it's dirty and covered in oil it's easy to miss it. Shine a light to it by the smaller roller and it's on there.

Definitely hard to see or can't see with out removing it.

Too late for me as my guy who was doing my vss didn't know either and later we were looking at another engine he had apart and I found it.

For heaven's sake, where in the picture was it located? I've looked at mine with a magnifying glass and see nothing. I cleaned the oil off and see nothing still. Can you please pinpoint in the picture where exactly you spotted it? Thanks!

I saw it here:

It's like an etching or some kind of stamp like you see on Craftsmen high visibility sockets.

It could easily be worn of with wear.

Holy cow, yes found it! Right underneath the intermediate lever below the smaller roller! No wonder it's hard to find it right away. Thank you! They're 07 057 - day 57 of the year 2007 (February 26, 2007). The vehicle is 2005 4.4, so they were definitely changed. Bought it CPO in 2008.

Mine are 04 141 Class 6 before the date range. What does that mean??

Yeah its May 20th 2004. It's outside the range of defective levers.
