Driver's side mirror twitchy

Trying to figure out how these work. My wife has settings, I have settings. Mirrors, seat, steering wheel. When I switch between settings, the driver's mirror is never quite right. So I watched it and it gets all twitchy when adjusting, eventually going farther outward than the setting I programmed.

I've seen the posts on the seat/wheel not working due to the seat control module. Where do I start? Is it in the mirror or in the seat memory module?

Cheers.

I have the same issue on the passenger side. I've read a number of instances where the issue is traced back to a less than perfect connection somewhere. The mirror knows where it is at by reading resistance values. If there is a poor connection somewhere it throws these values off and the mirror is twitchy and doesn't return to the programmed position.

Well that should be easy to find :). The glass on that mirror is wonky too, so I may start at the mirror and work my way into the door connections. I'll keep the thread updated if I solve it.

the mirror assembly is open to elements, and in 10 years i am sure is full of gunk... i would drench the guts in electrcial cleaner (like MAF cleaner, but something cheaper)... if the mechanical cleaning doesn't help, then move onto electrical tracing...
