The Wagon I had was the sport Package 525 a 2003, and it had the "M" logo on the steering wheel, i was told it was the M-Sport Package, not an M5 wagon. It was the e39 model.
Can't wait for the type 87's to show up, the stock wheels and ride height leave quite a gap as you can see.

Nice looing SAV.
Sorry to go off-topic, but the //M logo the steering wheel is standard on sport pkg with M-sport suspension. The real "M-Sport" pkg include more exclusive items: //M door silks, M-Tech II suspension, anthracite headliner, M-Tech front bumper (same as M5 with T-bar in center) and rear bumper (same as M5 with one opening for exhaust tip), shadowline trim ....

Thanks Bcredliner, I appreciate the response. I will take a look at your pics and I will try to get some asap.

Bought it from a dealer, so history is limited, 104,000 on the clock. had my mechanic check it out and he said it is a pretty good hot rod. Had a 525 M-sport Touring wagon before, so this should be a step up in the fun.

How does the x5 handle with the H&R springs?

Have a great day!

Bill

H&R kit results in a little stiffer ride but still very comfortable for street use. Since the kit lowers the center of gravity and is stiffer there is a noticeable handling improvement. The most notable improvements are less body roll and better turn in.

BC,

Did you have to but new wheel bolts when using the 17mm spacers?

Yes, I purchased Velocity spacer that include longer bolts and are also separately secured to the caliper. Whatever you choose note that some tire shops will not touch vehicles with spacers unless the bolts are longer and the spacers secured.

No, not one of the Stance Nation, I like the wheels straight and true with no camber, but like the lowered profile and look. I am good with a bit of wheel gap, but my main concern is how it handles.

And yes, the wheels that are on it are real nice, I guess I just like the straight 5 spoke look. And I guess if anyone is looking for the "Snowflake" type wheels. Hit me up they will be for sale soon.

Since handling is your goal, I suggest you also consider at least stiffer sway bars and a strut tower brace to get the most out of lowering your X and the spacers. I tried two different combinations of stiffer struts and shocks. Both were too stiff for the street or resulted in skittish handling. They might have been great for tracking, don't know, but for more than a few blocks they were extremely uncomfortable on the street. Currently I am running OE shocks and struts, Eibach sway bars, Dinan strut tower brace and camber plates. I am running stock bushings in all suspension parts with the exception of Powerflex subframe bushings. Alignment is set at maximum negative camber specs as negative camber is necessary to maximize X5 stock or modified suspension.

Thanks for all the replies guys!! I appreciate the wealth of knowledge you all have.

And like Ricky Bobby said, the lowered Stance is fine, but those Tilted in wheels, well just not my style.

I was thinking of the strut tower brace and the Eibach sway bar. I spend alot of time on the road in this thing and like to have it handle well. And be comfortable.

A few other questions, how do you get rid of the steering wheel squeek and whats the best aftermarket touch screen combo to replace the non touch screen

I think you are right on for what you want to achieve with sway bar and strut tower brace.

Assuming the steering wheel squeak is not suspension related, check if it is the universal joint on the steering shaft by spraying it with WD 40.

I already have a mediabridge, MKIV and the benefit of iPhone apps so I haven't changed my nav screen to one of the touchscreen options. My understanding from those that have is that there are one of two that most choose. They love the upgrade but there are still some 'bugs' and trim shortcomings on one or the other. My guess is prices will decline and features and operation will improve this year.

I haven't garnered a conclusive sense of ease of operation from proponents or videos I have seen but any touchscreen I use I have to clean smudges all the time, I see that as a big drawback. On the other hand, if mine goes bad I will certainly go to something that is cutting edge.

The following is one of the discussions of nav touch screens: http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...-purchase.html

Thanks Bcredliner, Just bought an Eibach rear sway bar. And I will check and see if the WD-40 cures the squueek, it is a mild one and seems to be interior related. Almost liek plastic rubbing plastic
