Bid farewell to my X5 last night.

After making thousands in repairs the last 5 months and still having a few more issues arise, I decided to part ways with my X5 last night. I'm not the owner of a 2001 330i sport package.

I get sad driving it right now as it doesn't compare to the X5 in terms of bells and whistles, but I'll adjust. It's going to be nice dealing with cheaper repairs and about half as much paid at the pump for gas.

I'll miss it dearly. You guys have all been awesome during my short ownership and I thank you for that. This site is one of the best BMW forums I've had the pleasure of being a member of. I'll stop in here and there to chat still.

Maybe one day when I'm in a better place financially I will own another X... But for now it's better gas mileage and a bullet proof Inline 6 for me.

E46 Fanatics: 3-Series, BMW Forums, BMW Modifications, E46 BMW is a useful place.
Enjoy its knowledge. I know I did for years. Then I sold my manual 330Ci and have cried almost every day since. Best car I've owned to date.
Enjoy your fun car.

I was a member of that forum years ago. I've owned a few 3 series cars over the years. Definitely great "driver's" cars. Which is why I went this route again. This time with 4 doors as I have a daughter now. I love driving it, but it lacks the raw power and stuff that the X5 had.

I fell your pain, just sold my 04 4.4i. those V8s get costly over 100k miles!

Definitely difficult to sell, i loved the car so so much

I didn't have any SES lights, just suspension issues (needed bushings replaced all over the place), oil leaks (alternator bracket gasket, timing cover gaskets), rough idle cold start (intermediate lever problem)..

I loved the truck, just not enough to throw that much more money in to it. I owned it for about 5 months and spent around 16k on the car and maintenance. Just too rich for my blood.

16 grand in 5 months!!!!!! Please tell me you're exaggerating? Good luck with the 3 Series, if you do get an X again, get one a helluva lot newer with a CPO warranty, obviously that rules out an E53.

9 grand for the car
Around 5 in repairs and maintenance and another grand in tires.
