Questions on Integration and Technology (radio/nav/bluetooth etc..)

Hey guys looking at the price of the oem satellite module which is still $549 which I think is retarded but they have you by the balls if you want to keep things oem lol

So my questions are:

Quote:

1.) The Dice Mediabridge how well it integrates into the Mark VI nav/head unit or the car in general?

2.) Rather than get any of module/Dice stuff what about going with a whole new headunit like Dynavin and again how well this integrates with OE features?

3.) Is the Dynavin or Avin satellite ready?

4.) Also which is better Dynavin or ///Avin as far as quality

5.) What do I do with the orginal DVD ROM if I go this route? :dunno:
I would like to get the video module at some point too then again I'm not sure what sort options this will open up for me using the Dice stuff. :dunno:

I already have the bluetooth module I'm pretty sure it's the TCU module and works great with my Android based phone. I have sirius satellite hooked up via the auxiliary input whomever owned it before me had it installed OEM style in the glove department which is nice.

Any suggestions are welcomed keep in mind I'm 100% DIY type of guy and not scared to do anything lol I have a technical background and very comfortable under the hood and soldering electronics even IC PCB based stuff so wiring isn't a concern to me at all.

I've scanned the forums and there is a ton of content on the subject but it doesn't seem anyone asked this question in this manner and basically I want the best shit with the most integration lol

Thank you in advance for any information and sorry for being like the 1 millionth user to inquire about radio/bluetooth/navigation/satellite

Hi. Which is the factory unit you are looking at?

I am using a soundplicity 3 and sirrus sca1 adaptor. The sound is good from XM and from the BT for streaming audio. However the volume balance between I put inputs is off. The XM level is much louder than BT. The SoundPlicity does let you adjust level into BMW head unit but not for across the individual inputs (BT, XM, USB,Aux). The streaming BT music is good but call BT phone calls are not great. Overall I like the unit and support team at BAV are solid.

Other small point is that the menus for XM channels stinks. Does display what station info and song you have on the screen. You can save 8 presets but changing channels is done one at a time. Solution works great if you have a few regular stations but not good for when guests want to scroll through.

Overall rather good for the price and convergence of tech but far from factory looking.

Leaves me thinking of fixing my BT and exploring factory SAT.

I was talking about this module..

ShopBMWUSA.com: BMW SIRIUS XM Satellite Radio

Thanks for the response , I'm guessing the Dice mediabridge might be better it's not much of a difference in price either. I'm just curious how well it integrates with the MIV using the Sca1 for the satellite for all I know it will have the same outcome as the soundplicity.

For me I'm fine right now with the TCU bluetooth it works fine it's really the satellite that bothers me the most having it clipped to my vent. I just think 549 bucks is stupid for a module/receiver for something I technically already have and just wanting it more integrated lol
I think what I will do is shoot an email to Dice, Dynavin, Avin and whatever else and ask them flat out how well it integrates with the headunit for instances like the Dice. For the the complete swap on the other I'll ask if it supports the SCa1 for the satellite. It would make more sense to put the 550 bucks towards a full upgrade of everything rather than one component.

When you reach out to Dice, Dynavin, and Avin please share what you learn!

I'm interested in doing similar work to my e53. I would love to stream music from my phone via Bluetooth.
