Hello, I'm new and bringing my SAV
Hey guys! I’ve been stalking Xoutpost for a while before I bought my x5 and decided to stay
I bought an 05 3.0i (sport, premium, and cold weather packages) about 3 weeks ago. I bought her with 95k on the clock (1 owner), but she is in perfect running condition. Interior is flawless, the exterior has a ding or two – really nothing serious though. I had the car looked over by an indy near the dealership PPI, as well as my Indy I go to after and both have said that the SAV is completely sound. I have went ahead and swapped out the transfer case and differential fluids and doing the transmission fluid and filter in 2 weeks. Rather be progressive than reactive. I am coming from a B6 Audi A4, so I know maintenance is key. My old Audi unfortunately was a nightmare where I could never do enough maintenance/repairs and never really got a chance to have fun with it. I’ve been using the search a lot already and want to thank you guys. I’ve already: Updated nav to V.32 Fixed the brake light gremlins Fixed the rattle in the tailgate Have a host of programs NCS Expert, NavTool, etc… and I am looking to start coding my next day off. Once I get a little more familiar with this engine, I am sure I will be contributing more. I know German cars are usually pretty efficient from the factory, but normally it’s the little things they did for the common consumer that can be updated. I'm not looking for massive amounts of hp and not racing the SAV, but I am more interested in getting the most out of her as I can. Hopefully soon I’ll be able drop a DIY here and there if I can find anything beneficial. I've been on auto forums since '00 so I am a newbie here, but a veteran elsewhere :o P.S. I am a huge OEM+ fan, and judging by other posts - I should fit in pretty well. Ricky Bobby, perfect timing! I was thinking about debadging the 3.0i off the sides after taking the pic today. After your pic, I'm really leaning towards it now.

Welcome :) Your ride looks nice and no doubt comes in handy up in wine country!

RB, your front rotors is rusty/ugly :nana2: |
That was last year Tam! Now that I use this product after I'm done cleaning the wheels I get no more rust! You should try some, its an awesome product!
http://www.detailersdomain.com/Hydes...per_p_947.html Just clean your wheels as normal, rinse them down, and after a few seconds of water drip-off just go around your rotors twice with a quick spritz, and it all dries with no rust! |
Thanks for the welcome!
Squidzilla: You speak the truth! This X5 is fit and finish way ahead of Audi. Only quirk I miss is on the Audi I could click over to manual in the tiptronic and shifts where instantaneous. The X5 seems to have a 1 sec gap between shift and activation. I'm thinking the Dinan transmission software may correct that. And speaking on sprays, I used to use this spray on my Audi rims (the brake dust was as bad as the X5) but I cannot find the damn bottle. I believe it was by Eagle One which traditionally I only use Meguiar products... but this stuff literally kept the brake dust from sticking to the rim. My luck I threw the bottle out. |
