Dinan engineers fine products, no doubt.

I don't have a problem with the current 'learned' shift program in my X5 in normal mode. I like sport when I want to do an italian tuneup, with the exception of the slowing down to a stop smoothly issue. If the Dinan software solves that issue, then it would be worth it to me. If it doesn't, then I'm good with what I have. Sometimes not knowing what's available is better for me. Definitely better for my wallet. :D

Dinan software will make the downshift far more obvious. When I am alone I use it. If my wife is with me she is always startled because it is so abrupt. In addition it downshifts in the same manner into third and second (This is in the sport mode only).

Connecting a trailer has never been reported as a modifier of the transmission shifting program, so no, I don't think it changes to a tow mode.

What the transmission does do is consider vehicle speed, throttle position, and so on when selecting a gear, so it is entirely to be expected that adding drag (eg a trailer) and thus requiring more throttle at a given speed will change shifting characteristics.

 Probably right on that JCL. Thanks for the insight. It's enough the BC tells me it thinks a trailer bulb is burned out because the LED turn signals don't pull enough amperage!

You may be able to eliminate the error with 25 watt inline error cancelers.

I wired in some incandescent side marker lamps on the trailer turn signal circuit, but they're just barely able to add enough draw. Do you have a source on the error cancelers you mentioned? I haven't seen those before. Thanks.

I don't recall where I purchased them. What is the original bulb number?

Hey bcredliner, sorry this is a little off topic, but I don't post on this forum and I'm having a hard time trying to contact/PM you.

I saw this thread:
http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...ions-pics.html

and all I really want to know is, are parts 61136925611 and 61138380696 mates? That is, do they snap together? Said another way, are they identical to the opposite sides of the pink/purple connectors in this picture? I need an affirmative on this for a project on my 2001 Z3 M Coupe.

Said another way, if 611 fits into one half of that connector and 696 fits into the other, it makes sense that they would fit into each other. I just want to verify if that is true.

Thanks so much,
Scott

I responded to your private message. Let me know it you did not receive it.

5611 and 0696 attach to the corresponding pink connectors. Male to female.

Sorry, I didn't get them. Maybe I don't have enough posts or something. If this were bimmerforums, it wouldn't be a problem!

My basic question is, do 611 and 696 attach to one another (assuming you put the right pins in them)? I see in the photo they attach to the connecters already in your car.

My issue is that I have 696 in my car (attached to the bottom of the DSC button). I want to make a Y-Harness that would allow me to connect, say, two DSC buttons (one to be used for another purpose) to some of the wires in that 696 connector. If I disconnect 696 from the DSC button, will 611 mate up/connect to it?

That wasn't basic or simple.

Picture is worth a thousand words.

Would the one end of your harness here clip into the other end?
