detailed the X5

5 Attachment(s)
Well I spent 4 hours detailing my X5 on march 16th at work (no I wasn't on the clock). stop at the car wash a block from my house and gave it a good long wash and hand wax. got home found a spot to park went to sleep woke up the next morning and could hear the roofers working... on my way to the X5 leaving for work I see a paper thin blue tarp on my X5 with roofing debris on it.....
a couple pics to show you what I mean.. please note I spent 4 hours making this look nice. that means touchup paint for the few marks from before a clay bar, polishing compound, wax. Since I did it at work I had coworkers and police officers looking at it while I was doing it and after I got done. Two of the officers want to hire me to detail their personal cars.

I tried to resolve this easy and nice.... YES this is uncharacteristic of me.
after the supervisor looked at it he said looks like rocks but we don't want you unhappy we will write you a check for $20. ..... I may have lost my temper a little at that point with a reply "WHAT the touchup paint costs more then that.

now they will not talk to me, soon as I give my name they hang up the phone.

I will no longer ever try to buy something nice. I will never own another nice car...

Go get three estimates and head to Small Claims Court.

They won't be able to "hang up" on a Subpoena

first estimate was macco at $1469.45 that was just paint no rental car. I would never take a car there to get painted I have seen how they do it. currently looking for the top 3 most expensive places nearby

Call the police and file a report for vandalism or destruction of property.

Yes this^

I would have called the police as soon as I seen the tarp.

Really sucks man. Sorry. I feel your pain. I've been waxing/claying my X everyday after work this week.

I'm sorry that happened to you. I hope you get the "fair" claim compensation that you deserve!

Could be much worst...

I work with the police. they already know about and are no help at this point.

HOWEVER.... if anyone from that company comes to my work they will be arrested for trespassing and their vehicle impounded.... and we are not responsible for damages to vehicles left on our property.

Is that a residential neighborhood, looks like condo's or apts? Is that where you live? If so, try a different angle go after the HOA or association that contracted them especially if you were not served notice of the work or advised not to park in certain areas. The roofing company has to have insurance or bonded show them the pics the police cant do anything this is a civil matter. There are basically 3 options and youve exhausted 1 already. Another is to go through the contracting agent for them and the third is court but in court your burden will be difficult to prove that damage didnt exist prior and more specifically they caused it, that will be tough to prove as most of that "looks" like normal wear.

Good luck

I don't want "fair" I just want it fixed

if there were signs or any indication they were going to be working on that building I wouldn't have parked there.

also note that the next day after the damages they put up signs stating they would tow any vehicle near a building they were working on.

these sign were not set out till they got there each day. no warning to which building they were going to work on a total of 14 vehicles were towed.

thats 14 people who went to sleep and woke up to go to work to find missing car but signs put up stating their car would be towed if it was in that area. 3 people have moved out since and there is a remodeling company working on those 3 apartments I don't know why. But hoping they trashed it before leaving. I know I'm going to wreck this apartment....

I live in an apartment. My witnesses are cops and coworkers to what my x looked like the day before this happened.
