Check Break Linings dashboards warning.

So what's up?? I have almost new Pads, almost new rotors, and normal sensors.
Yet I'm getting this warning. There are no codes read Via computer.....:dunno:

Any Ideas???

Clean the sensor and stuff with contact cleaner, clean up the brakes, check fluid anti sieze the bolts on the back on the caliper (cant remember the name lol)

Breaks were serviced not replaced today. Clean up not required

The sensors don't normally contact, so contact cleaner doesn't make sense. Cleaning up the brakes won't turn a warning light off, and may be the reason the light is on if the sensor wiring was disturbed.

The bolts on the back of the caliper are either the slide pins, or the mounting bolts. Don't put anything on the slide pins.

If visual inspection shows there is lots of pad left, then a light on is due to a bad connection on the sensor wire, or a damaged sensor.

there is a break in the line - the brake wear sensors are just a fancy name for a piece of wire that keeps the electrical loop in the IKE closed, once the pad is worn too thin, the rotor cuts through the sensor, the loop is broken, the brake pad warning comes on... so, in other words, you have a break in continuity between pins 4 and 20 of the IKE connector X10114 (blue 26-pin connector on the back of the cluster). those two pins are voltage and return for BOTH break pad wear sensors, which are connected in-line...

In the event of a break in the line connection from the IKE sensor output to the IKE sensor input, the brake lining wear detection function sends an I-bus telegram to the LCM. When this signal is received, a corresponding message is sent from the LCM to the IKE where it is shown in the text display. The general brake warning lamp is not switched on for this purpose.

i think it is just a typo... on the other hand, maybe there are "mothers" products?

Yup, could be a break in sensor line somewhere, since you mentioned someone was down there servicing it and the pads still ok.

Happened to me and one other member here recently too.

It all sounds logical but the warning went off and stayed off until Tuesday. Then it came on again and stayed on. So today the indy cleared a fault via computer and the warning went off and stayed off until I got home. in all it stayed off for about 3 hours. No sooner than I turn the key off when I get home the brake lining warning appears again. Hmmmmm.

Same answer. Sounds like the sensors haven't been replaced recently. Perhaps they were reused last time and are old and hard, or maybe they weren't connected properly. It is either a bad sensor or a bad connection. Every time the wire doesn't make contact the light on the dash comes on. When it makes contact again, the light goes off soon after. There is nothing to reset, it just depends on continuous contact.

Your indy should be checking the wiring, and if nothing is found and because it is probably cheaper to do so than keep investigating, just replace the sensors.

And if the sensors are replaced and the warning is still there? Then what?
