Speaker Problem
Hey Guys,
I am an audio guy by trade so I am ok with the work here. My rear bass drivers are non-op and they were that way when I got the truck. Its a real possibility that they are popped but I will test them regardless. Just curious if the amplifier in this radio is part of the head unit or contained somewhere separately. I saw posts about an amp in the boot but I haven't located one. Mine is a 2002 without nav 3.0L B |
It's in the left rear compartment. Lots of stuff there, but the amp is mounted vertically right against the outside of the X.
Do you have DSP? If you do, you won't like the amp being bad...expensive. Aftermarket isn't simple either, unless you like running wires from front to back, etc. |
Ok cool, found it.
I assume you mean some sort of digital signal processing? Don't think my truck has anything outside of the standard bass treble pan controls. I'm going to check one of the bass drivers to see if it is popped as the HF on both rear doors work but not the LF. If the speakers are still good I guess it gets traced back to the amplifier. I know occasionally the front speakers have some distortion but it comes and goes. Probably means the amp does have issues. Thanks for the tips. Bernie |
